For example there are 40 mens and each of them eat 1 bread.

Total breads for 1 day = 40

Total breads for 40 mens for 40 days = 40×40= 1600.

1/3 of mens who do not attend the mess= 40/3 = 13.33

The mens who will attend the mess = 40-13.33= 26.66

Food will be available for 26.66 men for = 1600 ÷ 26.66 = 60 days.
